Children’s joy and happiness is a big part of their learning. At Kingwood Children, we encourage them to have fun as a part of their education, with child-led activities which are adapted to their unique abilities and interests.
A cornerstone of our philosophy is the concept of Koselig: a term which originates in Norway and an ideal which is deeply rooted in Norwegian culture. Koselig describes the comfort and cosiness one experiences in the enjoyment of time with others, it describes the feeling of well-being associated with a connection with nature. We interweave moments of Koselig throughout our day to form our daily rhythm of Koselig and Adventure.
We have your childcare needs covered! Kingwood Children offer exceptional wraparound childcare with lots of all inclusive extras to give your children the very best.
The physical environment for each age group is bespoke, with its own distinct character, designed to fit the developmental stage of the children it houses. Each room is inspired by our rhythm of Koselig and Adventure, where the outside world weaves its way into our imaginative resources. Our handpicked team are expert childcare educators, through play based learning in our magical environment, our children thrive!
Introducing our bespoke parent/carer and child groups, held on weekdays at Muddifords Court.
We believe that alongside our children, parents and carers also need and deserve the nurturing and care we offer. Parenting is such an incredible journey and a deeply important task, which is why we are proud to offer the following groups.
Saplings is our group for babies from birth to 2 years, held on weekdays in the Roundhouse at Muddifords Court. At our sessions you will find gentle, explorative invitations to play, using textures and materials that encourage a deepening sensory awareness in our babies. We connect, share, eat and drink delicious treats and nurture ourselves on our parenting journey.
Our Little Explorer sessions are designed to engage children at the next stage of their developmental journey, offering an environment for them to learn, grow and socialise. Using the Roundhouse as its base, Little Explorers branches out into our beautiful grounds and the Dutch Barn, providing more than enough space for busy feet to run, climb, discover and find a moment to also be still. Children discover the resources and activities carefully designed to inspire the imagination and development of this age group.
5 days a week, morning and afternoon sessions available. £6 per family + annual subscription fee of £40 Delicious treats are also available in our cafe!
We are blessed with 14 acres of natural landscape to play with. We have an outdoors ethos at Kingwood Children and we enjoy making the most of our beautiful organic playground!
Muddifords has a meadow, streams, lake, trees, cobbled courtyard, adventure play spaces, and lots of little nooks to make believe in the inner landscapes of childhood. It is a truly magical place!
Our parkland is home to a growing number of animals which the children have lots of opportunity to learn about, care for and build relationships with. We have goats, Shetland ponies, chickens, ducks, guinea pigs and even "Shine" the Kingwood tortoise!

Our holiday club is based at Muddifords up at our Woodkin site. From here, we offer a range of outdoor adventures: from campfire cooking to crafts; woodland skills to sports; constructing to pond dipping… we follow interests, play and build memories.
In addition, we often like to adventure further afield with trips out and about in our minibuses or to local spaces within walking distance ie. the river, canal, farm shops, farms, parks, the beach, forest and beyond!
